Rising on Bodmin moor and concluding at Padstow, the course of this river passes through some of the most beautiful and idiosyncratic aspects of the county. Down the river, the tidal movements brought a sense of calm and order, the soft veil of dusk light, the haunting sound of the curlews on the edge of the marsh flats.

Many of these places are familiar to me and returning once again brought a sense of nostalgia; a confluence of the past and present, these new painting represent for me a journey through time as well as space.
