This is a series of non figurative landscapes completed during a stay at the Winter Academy Workshops in the Fayoum oasis, Egypt.

Inspired by my first glimpse of Lake Qarun in the morning, reflecting the distant hills on its surface. This became the starting point of exploring landscape painting to a purer form of expression. The relaxed atmosphere of the workshops, the simple and quiet ways of village life and the quality of desert light, are depicted here in acrylic paint and found materials on site.
